Keep Your Bathroom Cleaner Longer
July 2, 2018Do you find yourself cleaning the counters, floor and toilet in your home’s bathroom a couple times a week? Maybe you feel this is necessary just to keep the space presentable for family and visitors. Well, you’ll be glad to know there are some simple things you can do to keep your bathroom looking good for more than just a couple days.
Skip the Bar Soap in the Powder Room
If you’ve ever put a bar of soap next to your bathroom sink for people to use, you have firsthand knowledge of the mess that comes with it. After a few uses, bar soap can start to melt and end up a gooey mess in its dish. Plus, it can fall apart leaving clumps of soap in your sink. A cleaner alternative is liquid soap in a decorative bottle. Your family members end up with clean hands and your bathroom sink stays goo-free!
Protect Your Shower Curtain Against Mildew and Stains
You’ve probably noticed that the bottom edge of a shower curtain is the first to take on stains and mildew. Why? Because the water runs down the curtain and clings to the bottom. As a solution, spray the bottom portion of your shower curtain with a cleaner containing bleach to act as a barrier against the growth of mildew and development of stains.
Use Vinegar to Guard Against Stains in Your Toilet Bowl
Are you haunted by stains around the water line in your toilet bowl? Well, most people are. To guard against the quick formation of these stains, put a half cup of white vinegar in the toilet bowl at night and let it sit for at least an hour. This is an eco-friendly way to keep those stains at bay.
Keep a Supply of Dryer Sheets in a Cabinet
You know those used, crumpled dryer sheets you pull out of your clothes dryer after tumbling a load? Put them into a container in a cabinet beneath your bathroom sink. Every time you see loose hair, dirt, a dead insect or any other debris on your bathroom floor, use an old dryer sheet to sweep it up.
Dry the Walls in Your Shower
Soap scum starts to form on the wet walls of a shower almost immediately after someone uses it. You can help to prevent the formation of soap scum by drying the shower walls with a washcloth after each shower.
